ip help
i get this error when i try to renew my ip in command line prompt, be cause i get a 169.dada.dad.dada and i cannot do anything on the internet.
An Error occured while renewing interface Local Area Connection : An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket. i contacted my ISP which is comcast and they couldn't help me on the phone so they sent a technition. he said that my ethernet adapter is bad so i bought a new one and it still doesnt work. i also repaired windows (xp pro).. i am stuck on my mothers computer, ugh, someone help. edit: i also cannot connect using a router or wireless router Last edited by donthate11 : 01-06-2006 at 04:22 PM. |

Give this a try! (Courtesy of JohnWill
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2. For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log |

There really isn't a good reason for not installing SP2, which will improve a lot of details about networking.
