Weird Entries in Routing Table
Hi, today I went to access the Internet from my laptop and received the standard "This Page cannot be displayed" message. So I disabled and enabled my NIC (Wired). It reached my linksys 4 port router and was assigned a valid IP address. (I have a cable modem).... I then opened the Router Setup page and chose advanced routing and "show routing table" . What I found listed was not my usual routing table. It looked like the BMP attached.
That one entry repeated itself at least 40 more times. I tried releasing and renewing and could not get it to it's normal state. Which usually has 3 entries listed. I unplugged the router and once it was powered again everything was fine. My question is, I have seen this routing table look like this a few times in the past (not very recently though). What does it mean? Is someone stealing my Internet connection, or IP address to mask themselves as Me???? I've asked around and I can't seem to find any answers. Any Information would be great, Thanks Last edited by TheResidentDJ : 12-17-2005 at 04:03 AM. |

The BMP is basically unreadable, but I suggest you simply reset the router to factory defaults and see if that cleans things up. Since you didn't specify a make/model of the router, it's difficult to even speculate as to what you're looking at.
