Wireless Router Help

I'm currently at a loss as to what is causing the problem with my SMC wireless dongle connecting to my wireless Linksys Router (WRT54G).
All the software installs correctly, and the client says that the router acknowledges my WPA PSK security, but I don't get an IP address automaticall fromt the router, my IP stays at 0.0.0.0 as does my default gateway.
I've reinstalled the software, had a look at all the setting in both windows and the router and have no idea at what's causing the problem.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or if anyone can think of the cause and the solution.

Disable all encryption until you get it running. That will minimize the problems we have getting it configured. After you get a connection, then we can put the encryption back as a separate step.

does it work if you set it up with no security. I had trouble with a wrt54g and a dell that was supposed to be wpa capable but could nt get them to play nice, had to drop down to wep in the end
