Router/DSL/Network Help (1 comp 98 & 1 XP)
I have 2 computers (one with windows XP and 1 with windows 98). They were previously networked through NIC cards, cable and a hub with static IP to create network. I got DSL internet and I broke the network. The cable guy said I needed a router for my network to get back up.
Hense, I bought a Linksys Cable/DSL Router and set up all the wiring correctly. The one computer (XP) is now on the internet through the router and DSL modem. BUT the second computer (98) is not on the network. I think I have to do something like create a new network with static IP addresses or assign a new IP address to the router or something like that. Can anyone lend their network expertise. Thanks! |

If you have the router wired properly, all you have to do is configure the TCP/IP on the W98 machine for automatic IP and DNS addresses and reboot.
