Adding the AIM protocol

I was wondering how i could configure IE and / or Firefox with protocols for AIM, so that lets say i click a link with

aim:goim?screenname=buddy+name&message=hi!

so that it recognizes "aim:" and would carry out the action in aim, and message "buddy" saying "Hi!". If i do this IN aim, it works, but if i just click a link out of my internet browser, it says it the page cant be displayed. Im using Windows XP, if that helps any.

Thanks.

See if this is what you are looking for. I use Trillian so I can't test this.

No, im trying to figure out how to make all those commands work on my computer. If i put one of those in my URL, says that aim: is not a registered protocol.

The reason you're not getting any responses is I don't believe this is possible with a standard web browser.

It should be. I only get this error message in Firefox. It works in IE.

If I add that to the address bar, it will work for both Firefox and IE.
