Hey
This is the situation: I have a USB ADSL modem going to my computer, with ADSL working fine. My friend has his computer here, and we want to share the internet connection (so we can both surf etc.) We have a router, and cables. We have set the IP addresses (we can ping each other), and made sure we are in the same workgroup. We are both running windows XP. Can anyone help us get it sorted please??? Cheers. |

Need a little more info here. So, you have the ADSL modem going into the router? And then your computers are then connected to your router, yes? You said that you have set the IP addresses. Are you using DHCP in the router? or have you assigned static ip addresses? Have you properly configured the router setup?

I think just resetting your TCP/IP stack should get you communicating.
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2. For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset [log_file_name] Note: the log_file_name needs to be specified, e.g. netsh int ip reset reset.log
