Internet speed problem related to router
Hello there,
I apologize in advance for being fairly tech illiterate. I am on a home network with two computers and a printer. I have Windstream DSL and a Linksys WRT54GS router. As of late, I have been getting incresingly slow and fluctuating internet speeds, and I am wondering what I can do about it. Are there steps to checking speed or anything? The other computer on the network is connected directly to the modem, running about 1.5 mb/s, and my computer runs an average 0.01 mb/s (via speedtest.com). All help is appreciated, thank you! |

Re: Internet speed problem related to router
If this is a wireless connection, do a test wired.

Re: Internet speed problem related to router
Sorry for not being a little more specific.
But its connected via Ethernet Cable. And it cant seem to renew the IP Adress when i run the repair tool. I just found out that my "Network Controller" needs to be installed? Its there; but apparently hasnt been installed properly. Could this be the issue ? |

Re: Internet speed problem related to router
Well, NIC drivers can certainly affect things! I'd install the latest drivers and see if that makes a difference.

Re: Internet speed problem related to router
Actually, that was a thread hijacker, didn't realize he slipped in.
As for the wired connection, you pick up the computer and carry it down to the router for the test.
