New problems now that wireless network is installed
1st post!
I have a desktop at home (w98) that works fine, it does everything that I need. Use it mostly for school related stuff. I recently acquired a laptop for travel and of course I upgraded to a wireless router to take full advantage of the freedom of laptops. Since I installed the wireless router I have been able to do anything I could do with the desktop with the exception of one thing. I cant log into my school website with the laptop from home. I can access the school website with my laptop at any wifi location other than the one at home. I dont know if the problem is with the router, or if its the school website not allowing any other IP address access from that gateway in my home. Can anyone help? I will gladly supply any info that I may have neglected if needed. Any help is appreciated. |

Re: New problems now that wireless network is installed
First off, your IP address that the school sees is the same as without the router, so that's not the issue here.
My guess is the type of connection they require at the school may be causing a problem. Try disabling the SPI firewall in the router and see if that allows the connection.

Re: New problems now that wireless network is installed
There isnt an option for an SPI firewall. I can do basically anytning I need to do on the net, with exception to logging into work email, school websites. I have been able to do anything I need to do from the local coffee shops wi-fi. Still need help. Any other ideas?

Talk to the school IT folks, there must be some requirement that you're missing.
