router wont assign a network address

its a netgear router http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1051826245223 that one, and ive got a linksys wireless g adapter in my laptop, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...reg_R1002_USEN thats my laptop, the router works fine, as does my adapter, i know this because my xbox 360 connects wirelessly to the router fine, with not problems, and my laptop connects wirelessly fine at my house fine with not problems, (this new router is at my grams house) ive reinstalled the router thinking that might be it but no its not, i did a hard reset on everything, (im also using a comcast modem) my laptop connects fine when i plug it into an eternet cord in the back of the router, ive reset my comp aswell and nothing is working, i entered the right passphrase, ive done the whole ipconfig/renew/release thing, the settings for my adapter are the same as they've always been, its all set to automatic, plz help me its really annoying lol
