Adding a conflicting IP to a subnet through a router
Hello All,
I have a unique problem I need help with. We are trying to attach a diagnostic device to a LAN. The diagnostic device operates through an XP machine, but also features a printer that uses ethernet for communication with the host. Paramaters follow: LAN Subnet: 192.168.10.0/24 LAN Gateway: 192.168.10.1 XP interface 1 IP (printer attached through x-over): 192.168.10.100 XP interface 2 IP: ??? Bridged? Thermal Printer IP: 192.168.10.1 (cannot change this) Now, as you might see, we have a problem. If we attach the XP host to the LAN on interface two, then we have two interfaces with the same subnet. If we bridge connections, then the printer is in conflict with the LAN gateway. Is there a way to isolate the XP/Printer pair using a router? What sort of routes would I have to use? It's not important that the XP host can reach the LAN gateway, but it is imperative that it can reach the printer at the same IP. Any help would be appreciated. |
