Re: cant access sites using ip address

Thanks for your reply, Im using Firefox 3.5 right, now, updated about two days ago, but the problem pre-dates that. Any other info you need, let me know. I tried disabling security programs and then trying, but no change there so am pretty sure its not that. Any ideas, thanks again, Techdunce

Does the same problem occur in IE?

Re: cant access sites using ip address

Hello again Prometheus_Fire, you know I never thought to check that, but now that you mention it, no, I can put an IP address in the address bar of IE, and get a result, example, 74.125.127.100 brings up google, so, problem only with Firefox. Do you think there's a setting to resolve this. Thanks again, Techdunce

Re: cant access sites using ip address

Without knowing your browsers config, I'm not sure.

Have you entered any proxy settings?

To kill a fly with a cannon, you could uninstall and reinstall FF.

Re: cant access sites using ip address

Hello, well, there's not much extra config on my browser, not sure I want to uninstall/re-install, but I might try creating a new profile, and see if that changes anything. Let you know how that goes, thanks again, Techdunce

Re: cant access sites using ip address

Ok, created new profile, and no problems there, so, has to be a setting on my original profile. Im gonna have to take a closer look at that, but wont be tonight, late here and Im a bit punchy But thanks again Prometheus_Fire, your suggestions have prodded me in the right direction. If I do find the setting, I'll be sure and post it, all the best, Techdunce
