Can't access a website

Ok. let me start by saying that I am completely computer illiterate. So, any help given will have to be in very easy to understand language. LOL
I am operating with windows XP. I am trying to access a website that I have gone to a million times before, but all of a sudden I get an error message that says I am using an invalid IP address. Please help!

Re: Can't access a website

Quick couple of questions?
  1. What is the web site address?
  2. Where do you see the message?
  3. What is the exact text? Is it in the browser window?
  4. Do you have any other computers connected?

Follow these steps:
  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Click Run.
  3. Type cmd.
  4. Press the Enter key.
  5. Type ipconfig /release in the black command prompt window.
  6. Press the Enter key.
  7. Type ipconfig /renew in the black command prompt window.
  8. Press the Enter key.

What happens when you try to access the site now?

Re: Can't access a website

The site is a pageant website. My daughter competes in this system and I used to be able to access the national and state level websites. The national site is www.todaysgirlonline.com

Re: Can't access a website

1. www.todaysgirlonline.com
2. This message is the only thing on the page when I try to go to the website, either from my favorites list or if I just type in the address.
3. "You are using an Invalid IP to access this site!". No, it is just on the page itself with nothing else.
4. The computer that I use has the wireless modem with three other computers with wireless connecitons.

Re: Can't access a website

Two of the three other computers that we have also get the same error message. The third computer has the Antivirus 360 virus and we can't use it.

Re: Can't access a website

Ah, now that's a different kettle of fish!

The fact that you're getting the error in the browser either means that an ISP or the website itself is denying your connection! This is confirmed by the fact that it is happening on multiple computers in the same location (The site will see your external IP address that all computers at your location use). Perhaps because the ISP or site recognises malicious traffic from the virus on your 3rd computer.

If you can access other web sites it won't be your ISP. I recommend that you firstly get rid of the virus then that you contact the todaysgirlonline.com staff from your location and their ISP: Peer1 Network Inc. to find out which one is blocking your access.

Re: Can't access a website

You are using an Invalid IP to access this site!

I get the exact same message, so it's probably not you. :)

Re: Can't access a website

Thanks so much. I am glad that someone else got the message. My friend, who is a state director, has no problem connecting, so I just thought it was me. I will contact them and see if they have an answer.

Re: Can't access a website

I'm guessing this might be some sort if IP filter to allow only specific countries to access the site. They're probably not doing the translation all that well, I had the same problem with Google a few months back.
