new router/can't open email

Last night I installed a new Linkskey router which works fine for my laptops. However, I cannot open my yahoo mail now. I can access the page that shows I have mail but cannot open it. (strange enough, if I go back one page I can then open the email) I tried reseting my cookies. Didn't work. Tried setting the MTU to 1492...didn't work either. Any suggestions?

Re: new router/can't open email

What's the exact make and model of the modem? Have you tried disabling the SPI feature on the router's WAN configuration?

Re: new router/can't open email

Hi John. I looked;on the modem and found this information; Ambit, Model No. U10C018. It also said "class b digital" on it and at the top it had a cable RF Mac Address. It is the modem that Suddenlink supplies us with for our cable internet.

As far as disabling the SPI feature on the router...I'm scratching my head right now. I'm not that technically inclined.

If this helps, my son's laptop works just fine and he can get into his emails with no problem...which makes me think something on MY laptop needs to be adjusted.

I will do whatever you suggest. THanks so much for taking time to answer this.
Stacy

Re: new router/can't open email

That is a plain cable modem, so unless you have another box, you have no router.

Re: new router/can't open email

Ohhh...you mean the router. I'm sorry, I thought you meant my cable modem. The router is a Linksys wireless G router. Model No. WRT54GS2.

Re: new router/can't open email

The MTU fix is not necessary for a cable modem and a standard router. Are you connecting using a wired or wireless connection? Did you try connecting directly to the modem to see if this has anything to do with the router or is perhaps something in your machine?

Re: new router/can't open email

Actually, I figured out my problem over the weekend. It was my browser. When I changed from Mozilla Foxfire to Internet Explorer, everything worked just fine. I can access everything perfectly. Thanks for helping. Maybe if you see another problem like mine in the future you can recommended this solution.

Re: new router/can't open email

Since Firefox works fine for me and millions of others, I don't see this is a general solution to the issue.
