Network problems with a HP 7780
Dear friends,
I have got a printer HP 7780, it is in the network with a static IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS, regularly. Well, pinging this printer is possible from *all* PCs and servers of the network, but not from the file server (the same of DNS), where I would like to send scans from HP 7780. Sorry for my poor english, I hope someone of you will succeed to help me, I am available for other infos, if necessary. Thanks! Simone |

Re: Network problems with a HP 7780
Let's see this from the file server, and then one of the machines that can successfully connect to the printer.
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following commands, one at a time, followed by the Enter key: Note that there is a space before the -n or the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the - or / in the following commands. NBTSTAT -n IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: Network problems with a HP 7780
The fact that the problem computer thinks it's the master browser suggests that you have a firewall issue blocking it's access to the network, I think I'd start there.
Are all these systems really connected to three networks?

Re: Network problems with a HP 7780
But the problem computer is the file server (Windows 2003 Server SP2), and it is well connected to all other machines in the network. It should be really the master browser. In any case, I will check the firewall, as you tell...
No, there are not three real networks. The file server has got three network card, but they works together in team. The primary network card is that with IP address 192.168.2.94. |

Re: Network problems with a HP 7780
My point is that both of those machines think they're the master browser. Since only one can really be the master browser in a single workgroup, one of them is not seeing the other one.
