Change in Server/Visual Studio 2008 behavior

I host my own website using IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition. My server has a static IP of 192.168.x.x. Recently I had to change routers. When I installed the new router I could not connect to the Internet so I called my ISP att.net. The tech support person had me change my Motorola modem (no model number on modem, just a serial number) to bridge mode and I connected to my ISP through my Inexq router set up with my user name and password for PPOE. All machines on my network then had internet access. My router had an option to create a virtual server so I made one pointed to my web server. I had some friends attempt to connect to my web site from different external locations and it worked fine for them.

Before this router and modem settings change, I was connecting to my web server through another machine on my network using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. I used File -> Open -> Website -> Remote Site -> http://mydomainname.com. This brought up the web site without a hitch and I was editing my website directly on the server in VS 2008. Since the router and modem changes last weekend, I can no longer open the website in VS on my internal LAN. I have tried using the internal IP address of the server and the host name of the server but I keep getting connection error messages.

From what I have been reading, having my modem set to bridge mode and using the router to connect to PPOE should have solved my connection problems instead of mutliplying them. Now I cannot connect to my web server from inside my LAN no matter what IP (public or private) I use. I would appreciate any insights into solving this dilemma.

Hi RandyHJ,

What error message are you getting in VS when you try to connect?

Also have you tried running wireshark on the dev machine and server then comparing the capture files to see what's not getting through?
