[SOLVED] Connecting My Laptop via Ethernet to LAN

Okay, here is my problem. I currently have a wireless network setup in our apartment. Unfortunately, one of our neighbors is using a cordless phone, so everytime they get on the phone, it destroys my connection to my router. I decided to try using an ethernet cable for more reliability, but I am having pronlems.

The computer seems to connect to the router just fine, but it cannot connect to the internet. I've tried altering settings, but nothing has worked. Windows' diagnostic tool finally told me that I am having a problem with my TCP/IP address. I looked at the settings, and it says it determines an IP address each time it connects, so I am assuming that the router (or the cable modem, or something else entirely) is wanting a static IP address? I don't know how to fix this and I am getting fed up with having my internet cut off everytime someone else feels like chatting. It's nostalgic of the good old 56k modem days.

Okay, so I fixed the problem. Apparently, the network adapter was set to aquire an IP address automatically when connecting to a wireless network, but not when using an ethernet cable. I switched it to aquire the IP address automatically, and voila! Here i am, posting the solution with the wireless LAN switched to OFF.
