Ok here is my prob. I get an error on some sites that state that the website cant be found. doesnt matter what browser i use, ie internet explorer or mozilla, etc. they all do it. The website is good as i can access via another computer in my network. It is computer specific. Now i had this problem before and i noticed the problem went away when i uninstalled a game i had on the computer. Now it is back again but the game that had caused it before has not been reinstalled. What would cause a game to prevent me from getting to some websites on my computer??? Have checked the address via ping in dos and it cant find it as well.
Is there something or some program that would show if the site are being blocked somehow? dont see any problems in the options under tools or in my network config... HELP!!! Last edited by nvmar; 09-04-2008 at 11:07 AM. |

Re: website access problems
Start, Run, NOTEPAD c:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS.
Select all and copy and paste to a message here.

Re: website access problems
Well, that's not it.
![]() I'd try either loading FireFox to see if it's an IE setting issue, or you could reset IE to default settings. Reset Internet Explorer 7 Settings

Re: website access problems
I have to believe this is due to some sort of "Internet security" application you're running.

Re: website access problems
Copy/paste is the best way. If you really want to, attach a TXT file to a message.

Re: website access problems
You may have been hijacked by some malware. A bunch of these entries appear that point your DNS to the Ukraine, that doesn't seem proper.
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{205C22E0-9BF6-4F7C-A9B6-C887E6394A44}:NameServer = 85.255.113.140,85.255.112.201 Let's see this from your machine. Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt: In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command: Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command. IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here. If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Re: website access problems
I'd do some complete malware scans, because those entries got there somehow.
