Log Server, SNMP help with monitoring it.

I haven't dealt with SNMP before and what little I ever did was only "educational" I am trying to understand how to utilize it for better monitoring of our Remote Networks. Here is what I am using...
Remote Networks are Buffalo Wireless Routers with DD-WRT v24 firmware
www.dd-wrt.com
Monitoring Software "the DuDe" by Mikrotik
www.mikrotik.com
Monitoring Software "Whats Up Gold"
www.ipswitch.com
The delimma is a simple one. Everything should be very easy. I simply point the devices back to the monitoring location. However, I am not getting some of the devices to work even though configurations are the same as the devices working. So I am asking for help from people who have used any of these products and are familiar with thier configuration. Thanks.
