3 of my computers have same IP.

Hey, well I have 3 computers currently in my home. My main is connected to the router directly, and my second desktop if directly connected also. My other computer is a mac laptop that is wireless. Now, when I check on one of those "what's my ip" sites, they are all the same thing. Can I change this? Should I be worried? Is it only my external ip?

Re: 3 of my computers have same IP.

the router will give your internal pc's there ip's, the one you see on whats my ip is the external ip of your router, so no need to be worried

Re: 3 of my computers have same IP.

Wouldn't that conflict though? Like, say I get ip banned on a forum, then I try to access that forum on my laptop or other computer, would it block me out?

LoL why would you wont to get banned from a Forum ??. But yes to the outside world you would have the same IP from all your internal pc's

Re: 3 of my computers have same IP.

Lol, I don't know, just a scenario. :) Thanks for your answer. One more question. Right now I have the line coming into my house > modem > router > 2 PCs and wireless for laptop. If I got another router and connected it to the modem with a diverter or something that would allow 2 ethernets to one port, would I have a different ip if I hooked one of my machines into that?

I don't think that sounds logical, maybe I should put it like this. Is there any way I could change the external IP on my other desktop so like in that ip ban scenario, I wouldn't be blocked on the pc with the changed ip?

Thanks.

Re: 3 of my computers have same IP.

No, your external IP is given to you by your ISP. Having said that you can get Static IP Packages, All a question of cost and Necessity.
Small hope... If you reset your router you will more than likely get a new IP
which is cheaper

Re: 3 of my computers have same IP.

Yeah I know about that, thanks. I was wondering though if it was possible to change the external ip somehow on just one of my PCs.

also... if you were to do that, only one side of your network would be functional at a time because your only leased one ip. if you wanted to make your topology the way you stated, then you would have to pay for a second ip for the second router.
