Need Help Changing IP
I need some help with changing my IP address. I've tried to release and renew, but I keep getting the same IP assigned. I use wireless dsl/cable and I am clueless as to how I go about changing my IP apparently. Can someone give me some pointers here? I use XP.

Re: Need Help Changing IP
Hello and welcome to the forum
![]() Why do you want to change the IP address? . . the one your router is assigning is a private IP addtess ( e.g. 192.168.X.X ) and not your public address . . that is assigned by your ISP

Re: Need Help Changing IP
I got banned from a game server due to my oldest son thinking it would be funny to log into my account. So, they banned my IP. I talked to my ISP and they said I had to buy a new card for my PC and that they couldn't change my IP?

Re: Need Help Changing IP
The ISP is who can change the pubic IP address . . You might try powercycling everything to see if you get a new one . . turn off the Modem, Router and all PC's . . then turn on the Modem, wait three mins, thun on the Router ( if you have one ) then turn one pc at a time.

Re: Need Help Changing IP
I think I'll close this one. We can't really know what happened, I suggest you not take the actions that got you banned from the game server.
