Trouble with proxying my internet.

I'm trying to use e-Border to proxy all my internet traffic through a socks5 proxy but whenever I try to do that, I lose any form of connectivity, so not much use in that.
This isn't my comp, so I didn't knew, but recently noticed that this internet is using WAN Miniport. Doesn't that mean that I connect to a server and that server gives me internet access? In which that server kind of acts as a proxy for me?
I don't have much knowledge on terms of network, so I'm turning to this forum in the hopes of at least knowing if I can proxy or not...
