EEK! I can't renew my IP Address either!

Hi,

I appear to be having a similar problem. I can get online only via an internet cable; the wireless worked fine for two years and now nothing. I have a signal that says excellent, but always get the page cannot be displayed message. My roommates have no problems whatsoever with the internet connection. Here is what hapened when I ran the command from above:

With the last post, your wireless IP and your DNS server are set to the same IP. Go to your network card properties and then open TCP/IP properties. The bottom part is the DNS server area. Is it set to pull a DNS server automatically? If not, set it to automatic. If it is, manually enter in 80.58.61.250. Apply and OK. Try the wireless internet connection again.

Turn on DHCP.

Select Start > Settings > Network Connections.
  • Double-click the Connection icon of the connection you wish to modify to open the Local Area Connection Status window.
  • Click the Properties button to open the Local Area Connection Properties window.
  • Click to highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
  • Click the Properties button to open the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window.
  • TCP/IP Properties window, IP Address tab
  • Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
  • Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
  • Click OK to return to the Local Area Connection Properties window.
  • Click OK to return to the Network Connections window.
