VNC connection problems
I am using the VNC freeware version, and can connect from my Dell XP/SP2 home computer with a Linksys router to my work computer (win98) (no router) just fine. However, I can NOT connect the other way. I have opened the router and forwarded the recommended ports. When at the work computer, I am typing in the home computers IP address. The connection attempt times out. Should I be typing in the routers IP address? The home computer is a Dynamic address, but since I do not turn it off, it is always the same, but I also check it first before trying to connect. Same with the work computer.
Thanks L2Ride funtype99@yahoo.com |

Re: VNC connection problems
You have to use the public IP address. An easy way to solve the dynamic IP address issue is using something like DynDNS to map a fixed URL to your dynamic public IP address.
When you're at home, you can test if you have the VNC configured correctly using this page to probe it: http://www.gotomyvnc.com/
