Email / IP tracing
I'm not sure this is the right place to post this, but if anyone can help, please do!
I think I'm tricked by someone on a used products site. I was buying a game and gave him te money using internet. Turns out his adress isn't right and he doesn't reply to my mails anymore. I've checked the email headers but when I try tracing him I end up in different location per email (US, China, Germany) and I'm sure he is from the Netherlands. Here's a part of 1 header of his emails: Quote:
How do I find this man? |

Re: Email / IP tracing
Well, assuming that he's not roaming from country to country, I'd say it's likely he's jumping from proxy to proxy.
Depending on how much he took you for, I'd say it's not worth pursuing him personally. If you used paypal, you can file a dispute. Or, if you used a credit card, you could do a chargeback by calling your card's customer service and explaining what happened.

Re: Email / IP tracing
I didn't used paypal or a creditcard and he didn't took that much but isn't there a way to track down the proxy's or something? I can't just leave it like this, the man ripped me off. I want my money or the game, he might be doing this to a lot of people..

Re: Email / IP tracing
If you sent cash or a check, write it off as a lesson learned. This is why I use a credit card or PayPal for EVERYTHING on the Internet.
