Please help! ... How do I obtain DNS for setting up a Static IP

I am trying to use PortForward to allow for faster downloading and per the instructions I need to set up a static IP. I tried to get the DNS address but am struggling with that (ISP did not help me at all). Here is a paste of the instructions on what I am trying to do...

[i]The name server entries are a bit complicated. Name Server is just another name for DNS(domain name server) server. Some router's act as a proxy between the actual name servers and your computer. You will know when this is the case, because the Default Gateway will list the same ip address as the Name Servers entry. We need to have the correct Name Server IP addresses. Apparently I am on a DHCP and my default gateway and DNS addresses are the same. My ISP would not help me as per the instruction in the port forward and I do not know what to do. I use a Scientific American Router Box in conjunction with a NetGear WGR614v6 Wireless Router.

Could someone out there please advise? Thanks in advance for your help!
