Setting Static IP means no web pages
I'm trying to do the right thing and share files. I can download some stuff with bitcomet and there are uploads going. However I'm told I need to port forward which I did, according to the instructions I've read on so many sites but when I do I lose my web pages and cannot see any internet stuff at all.
My ISP is government run and censored and my TCP/IP settings are currently set so that I have to Obtain IP Address Automatically and DNS are obtained automatically. All is fine but then I change them and I get no web pages. I've also followed the Linksys instructions to port forward through the router with the same results. Can I ever port forward successfully or is it this governement run ISP that is stopping me? Its not that easy to speak to them either, as their English isn't so good. Any help appreciated. Thanks. |
