Road to CCNA: NAT and DHCP
Hi, I'm just studying for the CCNA and using the Todd Lamlle books, I've tried the link to the subjects that Mohammed said are missing, NAT and DHCP. Could anyone tell me where else I can obtain that info,
Cheers, GerryMcG |

Re: Road to CCNA: NAT and DHCP
For some technical information, you can take a look at the Wikipedia entries on DHCP and NAT.
Cisco also has a slew of documentation online on configuring IOS for DHCP and NAT. Configuring DHCP and NAT through Cisco routers is fairly straightforward in comparison to other router functions such as firewall rules, VLANs and trunking, and so forth. If you have any further questions, specifically on how to do something that is not included in the documentation provided above, feel free to ask. Addendum: By the way, try to get as much hands-on time with IOS as possible either through an actual Cisco router or a sim like Boson NetSim for CCNA. Make sure to get into the habit of typing out the full commands initially because unlike the real IOS, the CCNA sims do not accept truncated commands. Also to keep you sane when typing commands in the terminal, use the "logging synchronous" command in the tty so messages don't spit out on top of the line you are typing and make a mess of things.
