[SOLVED] IP Issue

I am having an issue with my IP and logging into my router.

I am using a Linksys WRT54G Wireless router and am having issues running multiple computers on it, I believe the reason is because my router is not setting me up for a home network since my internal IP is the same as my external.

I am using a cable modem (RCA DCM425) which is hooked up to my router, which in turn is hooked to my desktop.

Physical Address: 00-11-D8-E5-2D-72
IP Address: 12.226.104.66
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 12.226.104.1
DHCP Server: 12.207.232.22
Lease Obtained: 9/3/2007 10:25:14 PM
Lease Expires: 9/7/2007 9:50:48 PM
DNS Servers: 204.127.203.135, 216.148.225.135
WINS Server:

This is my IP information. I can't login to my router at all as it is not using the default IP. Thanks for any help!

Re: IP Issue

Are you SURE the modem isn't connected to one of the LAN ports? It should be connected to the single WAN port.

Re: IP Issue

If I plug it into the single separate port, I can't get internet at all. Thank you for the reply.

Re: IP Issue

Well, you need to address that issue, because where you have it connected now is incorrect.

Try this.

Reset the router to factory defaults. This is accomplished by holding the reset for 15 seconds or more with power on the router.

Turn off the modem, router, and computer.

Connect the modem to the router's WAN port with a straight Ethernet CAT5 cable.
Connect one of the router's LAN ports to the computer with a straight Ethernet CAT5 cable.
Turn on the modem, wait for a steady connect light.
Turn on the router, wait two minutes.
Boot the machine.

Please post this:

Try these simple tests.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

PING 216.109.112.135

Tell us the results.

PING yahoo.com

Tell us the results.

Re: IP Issue

Fixed the issue as explained by John, thanks!

I tried to do exactly what you told me to do before I even posted the problem but for some reason it wasn't working...hmm...

Anyway, thank you so much for your time!
