Mistake Re: Lan over dial up routing

Hello guys, I have similar problem as David. My laptop is on a CDMA dialup connection to the internet. I want to use it to remote control PCs in schools that are connected to the internet. These schools PCs have NATed IP addresses from the same Internet service provider in the range 172.16.x.y. I basically have all the IP addresses of those PCs. I tried SSH for windows yesterday but could not connect. How can I make my laptop connect? When I do an ipconfig/all for my laptop when it has the CDMA dialup connection I get the following:

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\Personal>ipconfig/all

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : UG_SBT
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Mixed
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible)
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-08-74-E0-72-8C

PPP adapter mtn:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-53-45-00-00-00
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.1.223
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.0.1.223
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 212.88.97.20
193.108.214.50
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled

BUT that IP address which is the same as Default gateway keep changing. Yesterday it was 10.0.0.68, the otherday it was 10.0.0.230....I think it is DHCP assigned.

Please assist.
Thanks

Re: Lan over dial up routing

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Re: Lan over dial up routing

I suggest talking to the IT folks at the school, they'll know better than anyone how the network is configured.
