Re: rebuilding xp tcp/ip
Johnwill helped me with a similar problem..
I suggest you do a proper repair of the TCP/IP stack. TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2. For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log Reboot the machine. __________________

Re: rebuilding xp tcp/ip
Lets re-word it.
![]() So the ssc commands, will not achieve anything? There reason I'm asking is, one of my computers is getting a invalid Connection-specific DNS Suffix. IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway are all normal. The only thing that is different is the Connection-specitfic DNS Suffix, which is only coming up with INVALID. This only happen to the computer at question. P4. 2.0 Win XP Pro. Thanx. Last edited by tommyleenow; 07-25-2007 at 06:10 PM. Reason: Re-wording |

Re: [SOLVED] rebuilding xp tcp/ip [moved from general security]
FYI, the stack reset commands used replace all the TCP/IP stack and WINSOCK registry entries with the installation defaults. This fixes many instances of networking difficulties, which is why you'll see me use it so often.
