Internet connection problem

Yesturday I built my new computer and installed Vista HP. I just connected the ethernet cable to the port and didn't even need to go through any internet setup and right away I had WAN connection and it worked for most of today too. But just a few hours ago after I restarted my computer the connection became limited and I had no WAN connection. I clicked on "Find a network" and the only option it gave me was Broadband PPPoE type, which requires an SN and PW. I called up my ISP and the guy said that we are DHCP type and does not have any SN/PW needed. He also said that he has heard of this issue before, where Vista is only giving PPPoE as an available network but not DHCP. I've tried restarting many times and have tried doing other things but so far, no luck. Help me out please.

also I know for a fact it is not an external problem from my modem or router because my other 3 computers are connected just fine.

what about it? can you be more detailed?

it's supposed to be DHCP so it should be able to automatically assign its own IP.

Re: Internet connection problem

Try the fix titled Prevent network flooding and connection drops on this page, about 2/3 of the way down.
