hey guys
well basically, i bought a wireless router so i can get internet upstairs on my laptop and the router only has ethernet ports in it to connect with my modem. At the moment i use a USB connection to connect my modem to my computer but because of the router i bought an Ethernet cable and bought and installed a D-Link PCI Adapter so that i could connect my modem to the computer through Ethernet, rather that USB like i usually do. Anyway, i put in the Ethernet port and installed it with the CD that came with the pack and everything was fine, it said "Installed successfully" but when i connect the modem to the computer with the Ethernet cable and then turn on the modem it doesn't work :s On the modem it says that i am online and that there is activity but when i open Firefox it just goes to an error page and when i look in Network Connections in Control Panel it says 'Sent: 0 Received: 0' which i'm guessing isn't good :s So if anyone has any suggestions on what to do or knows how to fix it please help me out because i need to return the router before tomorow night if i can't get the internet working

Re: Switching from using USB connection from my modem to Ethernet :s
ok, im guessing you can access the router since the cd worked. so, are you plugging the modem into an ethernet(lan) port, or the wan port? if its just going into the ethernet port, its not going to work and you will need to plug it into the wan port.

Re: Switching from using USB connection from my modem to Ethernet :s
Did you power cycle the modem when you changed the connection from USB to Ethernet?
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here.
