Slow outgoing traffic when data>16kb

hello,

i have problem with outgoing network traffic from my xp system.
uploading anything which is bigger than 16kb takes large amount
of time - after pushing first 16kb of data connection waits for one
minute or so and after that it sends next 16kb etc.

i have tried another xp computer on the same line and it was without problem
there, so it must be related to this system.

its not related to the firewall (the same bahviour when on or off).
its not related to particular service (its the same for outgoing mail traffic or
ssh connection).

has anybody idea what could be the problem or which key in system
registry can help to change ?

have tried to changed values in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
but it doesnt seem to have any effect to this problem.

Sounds like a problem with MTU sizes. Have you tried reducing the MTU size?

i used adsl usb modem before - even reducing MTUSize to 576 had no effect.
after changing to another ethernet modem(router) the problem remains.

Let's try resetting to installation defaults.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

the command with winsock didnt worked for me, however
your title brought me directly to ms web page, which describe
howto reinstall winsock without having service pack 2.

upload works for me now without difficulties.

If I knew you didn't have SP2, I would have directed you to a different fix. I have to ask, why not install SP2? It has a lot of important fixes, and is mandatory if you want to receive Windows updates now.
