Email Routing Issues

HI i think this is the best place for this post, if not please advise and move to correct forum.

Hi guys ok i am trying to setup an email server on server 2003 enterprise but i can send email internally but i can not send or receive emails from outside of the network. When i do pathping in command prompt i get this info....

0 servername.schoolname.hartlepool.sch.uk [0.0.0.0]
1 Destination host unreachable.

Computing statistics for 25 seconds...
Source to Here This Node/Link
Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address
0 servername.schoolname.hartlepool.s
h.uk [0.0.0.0]
100/ 100 =100% |
1 --- 100/ 100 =100% 0/ 100 = 0% servername.schoolname.hartlepool.s
h.uk [0.0.0.0]

Trace complete.

which makes me think that there is something wrong with the routing but i have never set up a server from scratch before in my life and so i do not have any idea what could be causing the problem so that i can fix it.

If i try to send an email from my 2003 server email it says this message....

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was myownemail@ntlworld.com'. Subject 't3est', Account: 'Admin', Server: 'servername.schoolname.hartlepool.sch.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for myownemail@ntlworld.com', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79.

I have change the name of the server and the full domain name for security reasons and also my email address.

I hope someone can help with this problem as i need to get everything working properly and quite quick.

Thanks
Mick
