firewall in router

help me please someone?
i have a netgear router.
now i have beet told it has its own firewall thats stopping me from downloading things.
now i have my own firewall os how do i turn the router one off its got me stumped good stile??? please help

Question

I have a netgear router and it doesn't stop me downloading anything, are you sure you haven't blocked something in your software firewall ? that would be my guess.
But people will need to know what model router it is and what software firewall you are using to say much more at this stage.

my router is
54mbps wireless adsl modem router dg834 v3
what am i trying to download?
file sharing as in music for my kids.
i can log on to the sites find out what i want but i just wont upload anything.
iv swopped security system from norton to avg and spybot and a couple more but all the same.
iv even turned my fire wall off just to see if it upload with it off. i know i shouldn't but it still dosent work i think im loosing it my self or im just to old for these new gadets...lol...
i hope that enough info for all you people out there please please please help

dont know what you mean sorry
if you mean what programs i.e limewire or emule. bear shire or frost wire then all the above iv tryed them all
all the same but lime wire is different it just wont open at all you double click the timer comes up and thats it nothing happens just nothing at all iv tried loading ti 4 or 5 times all the same

What are you using for file sharing?
