IP Conflict?
Hi,
I keep on getting the following error message, "There is an ip conflict with another computer on the network". Does anyone have any ideas on how i can go about resolving this issue? My ISP is Pipex UK My OS is WinXp Pro SP2 My Router is a Netgear DG834G I live in a shared flat, but untill recently, have been the only person with a computer. But last month two new people moved in and both asked if it were ok if the could tap into my wireless connection to email etc.. I have no problem with this at all. But i figured that getting this message isn't that good, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't use the wireless function to connect as the router is right next to me, so i use a cable. It only seems to happen when one of my flat mates connects. Last edited by TheGift73; 10-19-2006 at 11:36 AM. |

Well, obviously you are colliding with at least one of the people that are using the wireless. The usual cure for this is to change your IP address to a static one outside the range of the DHCP server in the router. This will avoid any possibility of another DHCP address colliding with yours.
