Automatically detech Default gateway? Remote and Routing..

Hi, I'm currently doing a excercise with a group and I've met a question which I'm completly stuck on (I used to be ok with finding solutions with search engine..)

here is the question :

Configure the windows 2000 server as a router (routing and remote
access service), then configure the windows 2000 server and the pro
station so that the station will automatically detect it's default gateway
(neither specify the default gateway manually on the station, nor use the
DHCP service on the server to specify the DG.

Note: use the network monitor tool on the windows 2000 server to observ the multicast packets sent by the server

I know for a fact that it has something to do with IGMP and editing the registry..... but I'm unsure what to do since technet doesn't really provide the exact info I'm looking for. Any advise will be greatly apprecieated!
