Modem to Modem private line.
I have two PCs each with a 56k dial up modem. PC 1 has the modem integrated with the motherboard and is running Windows XP Home. PC 2 is an old Desktop with a PCI modem running Windows 2000 Pro. I have a phone cord i would like to connect to each modem and make them communicate this way. Since i think they need line voltage for this to work, i built the device shown here: http://www.jagshouse.com/modem.html . I built the device and connected everything but i dont know what to do on the computers to get started! I think i have to do somthing in Hyper Terminal. It would be great if you could walk me through the steps for this. I know the modems work because i have used them both to connect to the internet. I know the phone line works because i have used it to connect to the internet also. So if you could explain how to do this that would be great thanks.

Not off-hand. I haven't tried to do this kind of thing for at least 15 years, and those grey cells must have died off.
