Network dissappears

Greetings gurus,

I am working on a system where my network connection starts to behave strangely. I am working along and out of the blue I am unable to access my internet connection. I can ping other systems on my network, but unable to ping off net.

when I enter "ipconfig /all" I notice that I have no entry for a default gateway. An "ipconfig /renew" and all is well. An indeterminate amount of time later, it goes away again.

Any suggestions?

Update: problem seems to occur when I am in webmail. I've been out of webmail for the past hour and no problems. I log into webmail and lose my default gateway.
