Confused. HELP!!!!
Hello,
I am confused about where to go next and what other equipment I need. I am trying to set up three computers to use the internet. (cable modem) One is a laptop running on WinXP and the other two are regular PC's, both WinXP. I have a Belkin 54g Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway router and am confused on where to go from here. Thanks in advance- |

Is it strictly a wireless gateway router? If so, you should really contact Belkin so they can help you go through the advanced setup to make it secured and stuff. If there are ports in the back of it, do the following:
1. Turn both router and modem off. 2. Plug the cable from modem into "Internet" spot on router. 3. Plug cables from router's numbered spots into the computers you wish to boot wired (as opposed to wireless). 4. Once all is plugged in, turn on modem. 5. Wait for the modem to sync, then turn on the router. 6. Wait a minute, and your computers (especially the WinXP) should connect automatically. Again, if you're strictly running wireless, you should contact Belkin and have them walk you through it. If you wish to do it yoruself, there's normally an IP address on the router that you can connect to through your web browser to manually set it up. |
