I have no idea if this is the right place to post this or not, so I apologize if I'm in the wrong spot...
Here's my problem... I design websites, and all day today I have not been able to access any of them; the webmail, via FTP, or just by visiting the site in either IE or Firefox. Nothing! I contacted tech support for the server I am hosting these sites on, and all I get from them is "websites are loading fine, please check again", but *I* cannot see them. Finally, I got in touch with a client who let me know that her sites, and the rest of my clients, are all loading fine - so obviously, this is MY problem! But where? I have NO clue where to begin! I am on a wireless home network through Bellsouth, and my computer is connected via Ethernet (too far to pick up wireless signal). I have checked on all other computers in the house, and none of them will allow me access to my sites... so I am guessing this problem might have something to do with my connection ? Nothing has been changed or updated, so I'm really confused, and really clueless about this. For example, my website is www.lisettedesign.com - All I get is an error saying it could not be found. FTP won't connect, and I can't check my email. I have a HUGE workload this weekend (moving everyone to a new server, but that's a different can of worms) and I was really hoping to get the majority of it done tonight/today... I can't find anything about this, and I am just keeping my fingers crossed that someone can help me out here. I'll take whatever suggestions you may have. At this point, I'm desperate!! Btw, love this forum - never posted before (because I haven't had to, there's such a wealth of information here) but wanted to let you know that when my computer got infected, it was the information I found HERE that saved me! So - Thanks! ~Heather |

First off, I see the site fine, so it's obviously there. Let's start with the basics. I presume you have no Internet issues, just these specific sites. Do this:
Start, Run, CMD <enter> In the command prompt box type: PING www.lisettedesign.com Tell us what you see, or cut-n-paste the response here. Next, type this: TRACERT www.lisettedesign.com Tell us what you see, or cut-n-paste the response here. This is part of the page I find at your site.

Thanks for your response :) It is working now. Not sure if this will help anyone else, but this is what my hosting company told me, then it started working not long after that:
There is a block at an nLayer node on your route to the data center. We have contacted them to ask nLayer to remove it or see what the cause it. |

Well, I was going to suggest it was an ISP issue, that's happened several times to me over the years. I had Comcast blocking a whole block of IP addresses for our local area for about three weeks until I finally convinced them that it really was their issue.
