Wireless works, but not Ethernet?

First off let my say Hi to everyone on the forum, I hope to become a productive member here.

Now onto my problem.

I am a student who frequently travels from college to home. At school my laptop works flawlessly via Ethernet on the network. However at home the only way I can connect to the Internet is via wireless card. I need to be able to connect via Ethernet at home.

The following is my ip details when unsuccessfully attempting to access the Internet via Ethernet:

C:\DOCUME~1\KHANFIRE>ipconfig /all

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Lucy3
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :
Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek RTL8169/8110 Family Gigabit
Ethernet NIC
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-03-0D-19-E9-72
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.120.38
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

C:\DOCUME~1\KHANFIRE>

Now without changing ANY details, I can pop in the wireless card and access the net, here are the ip details in the working configuration:

C:\DOCUME~1\KHANFIRE>ipconfig /all

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Lucy3
Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . :

Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Friday, May 26, 2006 4:49:19 AM

C:\DOCUME~1\KHANFIRE>

Now this information may help. When using Ethernet I'm able to:
ping 127.0.0.1
ping localhost
ping 169.254.120.38
ping lucy3

but I cant ping the router (192.168.0.1) or any computer on the network.

I've tried manually configuring everything but it still will not work. My best guess right now is that I have some kind of firewall directed toward my Ethernet card that I haven't disabled. I have already disabled Symantec, Windows firewall and ZoneAlarm.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on?

You are not finding a DHCP server when you're connected by wire. Since you obviously find one using the wireless, there are a couple of possibilities.

1. the port on the router is bad
2. the cable is bad
3. the router is configured for MAC address filtering

I'd start by trying a new port on the router, a new cable, and checking the configuration of the router. My guess is either the router port or the cable.
