Wireless router suddenly stopped working
I have a version 1 Linksys WRT54G wireless router. When I woke up this morning my computer that connects wirelessly to the router was unable to access the network. I check my other computer that is connected to the router via ethernet and it has no kind of connection. My router only has 2 lights on. One green for power, and one red light for diag. None of the activity lights are coming on at all. I checked all the cables and they work fine when I plug directly into my cable modem. I can access the internet that way. When my computer is plugged into the router, the cable modem only shows a power light and status light. Theres a pc light but it wont come on hooked up this way. When I plug directly into the modem all lights pop right on.
I contacted linksys support, but they couldnt understand that I have no way of accessing the router right now so there is no way Ill be able to access the setup page or load new firmware. Do you think the router hardware could be damaged? I mean the powerlight and diag light still come on. Ive tried resetting the router, pc, and modem a numer of times with no results. What can I do? |

First off, if the diag light comes on, that's an error according to the manual, right? If resetting it still results in the same indication, that's a bad sign. Did you try resetting to factory defaults to see if that gets it's mind right? If that doesn't do it, it's broke!
