Instant Messaging

Is there a way to set up instant messaging on a home wireless network?

I've tried to get the MSN Messenger to work on it by using separate email addresses on each computer, and while it does work, after a fashion, it is extremely slow and is certainly not as instant as using MSN in the usual way.

Windows Messenger??

If you want to send messages in a local network, this might be a solution?

XP has Windows Messenger, not sure about earlier OS?

Never really used this, it seems to be mainly for IT folks to alert users of network changes.

Many thanks. I've just come back from a few days' holiday and I found this reply. It is just what I wanted and was so easy to set up.
