Direcway DW7000, Linksys, and Port-Forwarding

I also posted this in the DSL, Cable, Satellite forum but I am covering all bases.

Hi All,
First post after a search of the forums did not yield any answers.
My parents and I use a lot of Ham radio applications that require port-forwarding capabilities. They are looking to get a satellite system through Direcway using the DW7000 modem and a home/professional package. I can't seem to find any answers whether or not a Linksys wireless router with the specific ports opened, will work with the DW7000. Does any one have any idea, or specifically what I will need for the setup. They hate to lay out $600, and then not be able to use Echolink and IRLP.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Cindy

Hi, Cindy.

I use port forwarding on my own network to enable extra speed in certian applications and to ensure that I don't get blocked from my work. Most routers offer this but to what extent depends on the manufacturer. I know D-Link is good about it, but I don't know about Linksys. I've never been very satisfied with their products.

Thanks for the reply
The linksys actually works great, as that is what we have used in the past with a cable modem. Ports are quite easy to configure. I am just curious how will it work specifically with the DW7000 from direcway, and if there will need to be any specific "weird" changes in the config on either the linksys or the DW7000.
Thanks again
Cindy
