Error Setting Up Network

Hi There,

I am trying to setup a network for file sharing and computer use.
This is how the setup goes.

Linksys Router.
OFFICE is Wired to it.
FRONT is Wirelessly connected to it.
The modem plugs into the Router.

The FRONT computer (wireless) can detect both OFFICE and FRONT when I click "View Stations in this Workgroup". However, OFFICE cannot view any stations.

I have run both the Network Set Up Manager and Wireless Setup Manager

Both connect to the internet fine,
I just can't seem to get them talking.

Thanks
Amnesia

Turn off any firewalls for debugging. If the firewall is the problem, you'll have to configure it to allow access to "trusted zone" addresses. Note that some firewalls must be completely uninstalled to stop them from affecting your networking.

PING each computer by IP address, and if successful, PING by name. You can obtain the IP address of a computer by opening a command prompt (DOS window) and typing IPCONFIG. This should work for any Windows version.

All computers should be in the same workgroup for computer browsing to function properly. File & Print Sharing has to be enabled on any computer you wish to share files or printers from. You also need to actually share the resource in question from My Computer, right click on the drive/printer/folder, and select sharing.

If you encounter difficulties accessing computers that are visible in Network Neighborhood, make sure the computer being accessed has an account with the same name/password as the system connecting to it uses to login.

While the default NetBIOS setting is correct for normal network configurations, it's possible for it to be altered, and it costs nothing to make sure it's correct. NETBIOS over TCP/IP must be enabled for normal network browsing.

Hi,
I can ping both computers from either computer.
I am using the Blueyonder Firewall and built in XP firewall.

From the OFFICE computer I can see both computers on the network. But can't access FRONT.

From the FRONT computer it doesn't show any computers on the network.

Any more ideas?

It says that it cannot be connected, Contact system administrator to make sure I have priveledges.

I turned off my blueyonder firewall and it works!!

How do I allow blueyonder to allow the IP addresses?

Well, like I said first off, "turn off any firewalls for debugging".

You need to configure the BlueYonder firewall to allow your local LAN to be in the trusted zone. I don't know anything about this firewall, so I can't be more specific.

I've looked and looked through this firewall, and I Don't think there is a way to allow it into the trusted zone.

I'll have to research a bit harder!

Thanks for the help though.

You may need to get a better firewall and lose that one.
