Connecting LANs
My neighbors and I want to see if there is a way to connect our LAN networks. Would it be possible to do this via internet? We could not have a cable connecting each house. Is there a way to do this? Thank you.

Found this dual WAN port router at CompUSA:
http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...100&pfp=BROWSE Now, if running a cable is possible (100m limit), you can connect the second WAN ports. Simple port configuration would be: You: WAN1 <-> Internet - follow your ISP instructions Him: WAN1 <-> Internet - follow your ISP instructions WAN2 <-> Neighbor's WAN2 - You 192.168.0.1, Him 192.168.0.2 Internal Network: You: 192.168.1.0 Him: 192.168.2.0 Voila! Another added bonus is that if one of you loses internet connectivity, you can run off of the other until it is restored. |

That's sounds awesome. Another quick question. Would my Linksys router that we connect our LAN to count as wireless? It says wireless on the top of it but Im not sure what that means exactly. I'm not sure if we can buy anything at the moment, but we'll have to see. thanks for the replies guys. (No rhyme intended).

I don't see why you'd need a dual WAN router, and it would only be useful if you could run a cable.
How far apart are the houses, and is there a direct line of sight with NO obstructions between them?

If you don't have line of sight, wireless gets real complicated in a hurry. It might work with directional antennas, hard to say...
