Hi everyone in the forum
This is my 1st time here.
I have a Verizon DSL connection using a Westell 6100 modem. I bought a Linksys RT41-BU router to connect a new laptop with Xp, my Pc runs XP too. The situation is when I connect my laptop to the router it works fine, but my Pc is unable to connect to the internet, I got a message: 678 The remoe computer did not respond. The connection in the PC says is a WAN miniport PPPoE. I also are unable to access the modem configuration using 192.168.1.1. In one document i readed says I have to change the modem config to be a "bridged ethernet" mode to allow the lynksys to do the routing and DHCP functions. Any suggestion? Thanks a lot |

bridged mode
I ran into this same problem some time back and I know that it involved more that just changing the modem to bridged mode.... You will want to call your ISP to get the details of what you need to change. It took me about an hour, with someone I could not understand, but we got it done. I don't remember the steps... I just remember that I don't want them as my ISP.
But anyway, your ISP is your best bet... and if they won't help you... threaten to change ISPs. |
