setting i cannot find

my computer got hijacked i fixed that an while ago then i had WINSOCK problems
i reinstalled XP SP2 now the internet is working i can browse sites an log on MSN MESSENGER then i go to activate XP in the process it had detect auto connections or somethig simular so i clicked that the acrtivation didnt work and now i cannot access web site i can log in on STEAM XFIRE not msn messenger has an key port error so how can i fix it and i should of mention this earler but it an client computer getting internet from the host and i have a DSL connection

Since this is a client to ICS from the description, this reset should get you to a configuration that should connect.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.

For these commands, Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

i still cannot access websites from any browser though i can play game on online servers
