I've got about 15 computers within a network that all connect to a large switch then go out to my Watchguard Firewall then out to my Comcast cable box to the internet.
I can "see" within my network all of my machines. Each one with variable "shared" files. MOST of these machines can connect to the internet with no problem. A couple of them cannot even with the same settings. I'm probably missing something, most likely easy. Any ideas on what I can be overlooking? - I've got a Static IP on my braodband cable box - My firewall is DHCP to pick up my cable box - My computers are all Dynamic so I can VPN (internally) to each one. - Each one is configured with a Preferred and Alternate DNS server - I have disabled the XP firewall to let me get in via VPN because there is a firewall through the Watchguard box. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks Mike |

I have about 100 addresses to choose from if I let them all choose their own IP address, BUT I input them manualy so I can find them easily.
We have a D-Link Gigabit Switch (24X10/100, 2X10/100/1000). All of these machines are running XP Pro. (Thanks for your response!) |

The "box-o-firewall" is a Watchguard SOHO6. It has the external DHCP to find the cable box and the static internal IP for my machines to link to.
The machines are not quite random but it seems they used to work at one time and then they don't. Then I get a couple more machines that won't connect. Strange. I would think that if it was the firewall it would effect ALL of the computers linked to it. Last edited by WannaBeIT; 02-22-2006 at 09:13 AM. |

The #15 machine that cannot see the internet "timed out" when pining DNS 1 and 2.
Another machine (this one) pings them with no problem. I've compared the ipconfig between the two machines and there are no discrepencies. |

THAT was it!!
I can't believe I'm so blind. When I logged onto the Administration screen for the firewall, it told me I had 10 licenses and all 10 were used. We have 15 computers but not all are online. The problem is when one of the computers gets online, even just once, it will hold a license until we release the license manually You are great! THANK YOU! |
